My niece Miriam is the singer in a band called Tom Foolery.
She asked me very very nicely to do some photos of them.
That was ages ago and for one reason or another we just couldn’t schedule it until last week.
They were playing at the Tolbooth in Stirling, their biggest gig to date.
I think I’ve been at every gig bar one that they’ve ever played and I thought they went down very well at this one.
It’s challenging doing photos for people close to you because on one hand you know what they are all about while on the other your ideas are clouded because you know what they’re like.
Working with strangers is a lot easier at times.
(As long as the strangers dae as they are tellt!)
Band photos frustrate me.
I hate stand-in-a-line type images, they are dull and unimaginative (and this band is neither of those things).
Once you’ve seen one you really don’t want to look at a second or a third.
I didn’t want to do anything too smart for their band photos here.
It’s not about me imposing daft ideas on them.
I just asked them to be cool and be natural and we’d see where things would take us.
And it led us to the image above.
No point in showing you what they look like without also letting you hear them so here’s the newest song from their Soundcloud page.
